Real Moms, Real Stories

Helping women in Central Ohio is why we exist. For decades, we’ve been providing free, confidential pregnancy resources and care. Here are some stories from real women who’ve visited PDHC.

Stevie’s Story

“A couple years ago, I wasn’t sure if I was pregnant or not. My mother told me about PDHC and that they would help me with a pregnancy test and an ultrasound. It was nice there and very clean and friendly. I felt comfortable. It was very helpful and a good way to go through the experience I was going through. Last year I was dealing with health issues and wanted to get an ultrasound done. No one would accept me, big hospitals, known hospitals, unknown hospitals, and PDHC was the only one that seemed to care. They really made sure to do it as soon as possible and they took care of me. It was really nice. I am thankful for them. They have helped me through a lot. I now have a two-year old son and a six-month old daughter.

I would tell a pregnant friend how amazingly helpful PDHC is and that it’s a really good place to go to. The people who work for PDHC are amazing. They’re respectful, comforting, and resourceful. It would benefit her and her children and her life to go there.”

Camika’s Story

“I had just found out I was pregnant and I was shocked. I wondered how I would support myself and a baby. Another community resource referred me to PDHC and their parenting class program.

At PDHC, they assess what you may need and how they can help you. They helped me get diapers, wipes, bottles, newborn clothing and also clothing up to age 1. I didn’t have to spend a lot of money on that. They also help you reach out to other support, like the WIC program.

It was good support to find other women that are pregnant too and have someone to share similar experiences with. It was nice to be able to meet other moms and I met a good friend that I am still friends with now in PDHC’s classes.

My friend is pregnant now and her pregnancy was unexpected too. I referred her to PDHC. I told her they can even do ultrasounds if you haven’t been able to get in with a doctor. You can see the baby. It’s a great resource if you don’t have a lot of support out there and just to get more items for your child. I told her that they were able to help me and that the classes are very helpful too.”

Tee-Y

Tee-Y came to the United States in 2017. Some of her extended family lived in Columbus and she chose to move nearby.

In August 2019, she became pregnant. “I was still very new and didn’t know what to do,” Tee-Y remembers. ”My aunt told me about PDHC and went to the North center with me. They did a pregnancy test and then offered me an ultrasound. They told me about the parenting classes.”

“You don’t know how blessed you make us feel,” says Tee-Y. “I wasn’t able to have a baby shower or anything and I wasn’t working. Now I’m ok. Now I don’t really need anything. You guys are lifesavers.”

“I’m missing you guys already,” says Tee-Y who recently completed the parenting class program. “I am so grateful and so happy. Thank you so much for all the work you put in, for taking time to do this kind of program because it helps a lot of people, like me especially.”

Ty-Lynn

“I had my initial appointment at PDHC west and Nicole was fantastic! I had my ultrasound in Lancaster with nurse Judy and she was amazing. They treat you like family from the time you walk in to the time you walk out. They are very informative and make you feel so comfortable. I don’t have an OBGYN so they gave me information that I needed to find one and helped me with any questions I had. They are amazing and I would recommend them to anyone!”

Noel

“Went there back in august & the ladies were extremely sweet and helpful through everything on the progress of getting confirmed & doing my babies first ultrasound. They gave me stuff for my baby as well and prenatal vitamins etc and helped educate me a ton with the whole pregnancy process. Forever grateful for this place as I didn’t have insurance at the time and it was completely 100% free. Definitely recommend.”
